Chrono Cards

ChronoCards

ChronoCards is an innovative set of classroom games designed to teach critical 21st century historical thinking skills to middle and high school students. The games explore the causes of World War I  and the American Revolutionary War through practicing historical thinking. With Chrono Scouts on one side of the deck and Fact Fuse on the other, teachers and enthusiasts have two ways to explore these critical moments in history.

CHRONO SCOUTS
History has been fragmented, its pieces lost somewhere between time and space. The ChronoZoomers Guild has charged you and your classmates to put it back together. Race against the clock, collaborating, discussing, and arguing your way to your final five card story.

Chrono Scouts is a  cooperative game for 2-5 players with the goal of creating the best 5-card story sequence about the causes of WWI or The American Revolution. Players take turns adding to the group story, rearranging cards, and replacing their hand.

Play is guided by a series of 10-12 minute audio/video tracks available at the YouTube links below or for download as MP3 files. Guide tracks enforce the time limit and also add surprises and constraints to play.

Chrono Scouts teaches about multiple perspectives as players explore the relative importance of a number of events, relationships, and figures that make up the building conflict.

Teachers may also find this guide and supplemental materials for using the games in classrooms helpful:

FACT FUSE
Armed with your knowledge of history, compete against your classmates to connect cards, form sentences, and justify claims. The person with the most facts at the end of the game wins.

Fact Fuse is a competitive game for 2-5 players with the goal of spotting and defending facts. Players lay out a number of shared cards, each with one historical noun and one historical verb. The first player to spot a three-card sentence about the war yells “Fact!”. If that player can convince the others that their sentence is true, they keep the three cards as points. The player with the most points when the cards run out wins!

Fact Fuse is a proving ground for players to show what they have learned about the causes of WWI or The American Revolution. Players also practice historical argumentation as they defend their claims to their peers.

The games are available to print at home for free, or for purchase here:
